Daddy's Day...

Happy (very belated) Father's Day, to all of the Dads out there...

I would say that Brian had a pretty good FABULOUS Father's Day. However, I guess to know the REAL TRUTH, you'd have to ask him.... or he would have to do a blog post... and I think we can all count on 1 hand how many posts he's written... ;)
So, I will go ahead and assume assure you all, he had a great and fun day with his two adorable munchkins and extra sweet wife. :)
We really did have a fun day all together on Sunday... Before, we share the MOST fun surprise... we need to give some love to the BEST Daddy in the whole wide world! As, well as the BEST Husband in the world!!!
I cannot tell Brian enough, what a wonderful and amazing father he is to both Jack and Maggie. He is their Daddy, Best Friend, Cheerleader, Monkey Bars, Silly and Fun... but most of all LOVING, CARING, KIND ---- and they both get to see this from him every day.
How lucky are they? Pretty darn lucky, we are all, I would say!

Jack was really set on Daddy opening some of his gifts on Friday evening, after dinner, so that the presents could be played with...
The first one is from Jackson... (note: we had all been outside, the kiddos had been drawing on their cardboard house, hence the "hitler 'stache", Jack is sportin').
so... "the present"...
Brian and Jackson LOVE a show called "Mythbusters"... me, not so much. So, it's sorta their show. They think it's so cool, and apparently proving myths fact or fiction can be quite hilarious too. Jack has now made up a HILARIOUS "knock knock" joke about slipping on a banana.... all due to an episode of Mythbusters, where apparently it is FACT that one can indeed slip on a banana peel... again, HILARIOUS!!!!
When I came upon Mythbusters board game, I'm sure you can imagine my instant gratification of finding the PERFECT gift for Brian from Jack! Not to mention, it was a STEAL!!!! They have been having fun playing Mythbusters, and no, my lack of admiration for Mythbusters show and/or game is still there, so I have yet to get in on the Mythbusters game action....
 SURPRISE!!!
Maggie also doesn't quite share the Mythbusters love either... (thank goodness, I don't want to be outnumbered...)
My gift, along with Maggie's gift - were held onto until Sunday (actual Father's Day). Brian got a fun UO Ducks flag (a little one) to hang outside, and a UO Ducks Iphone cover for his phone... he seemed to like LOVE all of his gifts!
Above are some cute pictures I got of Miss Maggs, just before we headed out for her "professional photo shoot"... for her 2nd birthday photos... (I posted one in the post previous to this one... ), and am SO EAGER to see the rest... NEXT WEEK!!!!

I had to slip these pics in (below...). After helping Daddy open some gifts... Maggie planted herself on the floor in front of Sesame Street.
She was being super silly, but the silliest thing of all was her hair!
Not sure how it got to this state...
but, it was hilarious!
If I ever figure out how it got like this, I will try my hardest to NOT replicate it again... :)
Maggie's new "silly trick" is to put both of her thumbs in her mouth.
Usually she does this, whenever I tell her to "get that thumb out" -
when I'm taking her picture... :)
... and on to her "silly face"... a bit slow motion, as Elmo is a very intriguing guy,
hard to take your eyes off of him!
As Jack would say... "now, laugh!"
After he does a "funny and/or silly" trick,
we are all immediately prompted to laugh...
Maggie has caught on quickly.

and the BIG surprise of the day was... going to see...
THOMAS the TRAIN!!!!
Now, if you know Jackson (and Maggie too; she seems to following in Big Brother's footsteps) you know his complete undying love, admiration, borderline obsession for Thomas and all of Thomas' friends (other trains, train cars, etc. - to which he knows all of their names... you never want to call an engine the wrong name... just trust me on this one...).

We had told Jackson, back in March or so, that Thomas would come to Oregon... all the way from Sodor Island (where Thomas and his friends all live and work) this summer if Jack did really well going pee & poo on the potty, like all big boys (and choo-choos) do.
Well...
the time had come that Thomas was, indeed in Oregon... and Jackson has been doing AWESOME on the potty (more on that later...) - so the LOVEFEST was set to begin...
on Father's Day. :)

Heading out for a fun day to see.... Thomas the Train, himself!!!
Jack and Maggie were so excited... and were very patient on the drive to Hood River. It's a little over an hour from our house... we left Portland, and it was chilly and rainy... but, once we got past Cascade Locks, the sun was shining, and it was so nice in Hood River for our super fun day!

We made it ... Jack in front of the giant "Day out with Thomas" sign
What a good sport!!!
Maggie off to find Jack, and to ring the bell too!
Bean Bag Toss...
(there were a lot of fun little activities to do while awaiting our train ride)
Maggie seemed to be the official bean bag picker-upper

I tried to get M's pic in front of the train poster... but, she wasn't really feelin' it...

super cool Thomas "tattoos"... both kiddos LOVED them!

mini train ride...
jack and maggie got to go on a little train ride... and it was all fun... until...

Jack saw THOMAS the TRAIN heading our way
(yes, this was the first time he had seen Thomas...)
and he FREAKED OUT!!!!
We could hear him screaming/crying for Thomas, but there was nothing we could do until the mini train stopped to let the munchkins off.
So sad, poor kiddo.
He thought that Thomas was going to keep on driving by,
and he wasn't going to get to see him or ride on him.
I think he thought that the "mini train" was it...
Again... it was so sad to hear him crying that he wanted THOMAS, THOMAS, THOMAS...
Thankfully, Maggie held it together pretty well.
She usually starts crying as soon as he does...
Once we were able to get him off of the "mini train", we quickly explained to him, it was our turn to go see Thomas, and he was good to go!
Note: picture below is literally 5 minutes after picture above.
Thank Goodness for a quick recovery!
Jack spent pretty much the ENTIRE train ride, sitting like this (below) staring out the window, taking every second in... I LOVE that he LOVED it so much!!!!
He quickly had a photo taken with Daddy, but as you can see, was eager to get back to his window viewing!
Brian with his munchkins!
Not easy to get a pic, with a VERY EXCITED boy, and a VERY THIRSTY girl. :)
Mama and Maggs.
Daddy and Maggs.

All of the kiddos got certificates that stated they were officially "junior engineers", as well as proof that they really rode the REAL THOMAS!
Jack told me later that day, that he wanted me to "put his certificate in some glass and hang it on his wall in his room" - his exact words... so sweet!
I was able to sneak off for a second, and in between train cars, were big windows looking outside (with no glass), so I was able to capture some fun and pretty pictures of the gorgeous scenery!

Again... I don't think J moved much from this position...
The train ride, seemed to make someone a little sleepy...
Uh Oh, train ride is over...
Jack didn't want to leave Thomas... but, we told him... the best part was to come...
seeing Thomas up close!
Thomas!
It was nearly impossible to get their picture in front of Thomas with them both looking at me... as there were so many people, and you didn't have much time in front of Thomas - and the time you had... was not guaranteed uninterrupted by fellow munchkins!
After our ride, we enjoyed our yummy lunch (we brought from home), as well as some good 'tunes... Jack LOVED when they sang "if you're happy and you know it...", and really got into it. :)

Meeting Sir Topham Hat...
Jack loved  him...
Maggie, not so much. As in she was screaming and refusing to go anywhere near the guy...
Can you blame her?

Playing with MORE train tables (they were everywhere, as I'm sure you can all imagine)
inside the ENORMOUS "gift shop".
Jack did pick out a new train... thankfully it was one we don't already have, and he STILL LOVES it ... a few days later!

They even had some FUN bouncy houses and slides!
Jack is a LOVER of bouncy houses/slides.
Maggie is a spectator, at this point... :)
Again... it was such a great day! Happy Father's Day to Brian! And, we'll most definitely be back to visit Thomas next summer!!!

On the way home we did stop and visit Great Grandma Weeks, and got some fun photos... I'll save those for a post later this week... if I add them on to this post... it might not be until next Father's Day before everyone sees our Day with Thomas. :)
